An unknown rural church

An unknown rural church

The message on the reverse of this postcard by the Canterbury photographer Douglas Jones states: "This is our Church, Sunday School and Vestry room combined 24ft by 18ft. Mr Stace wants it to be enlarged as soon as possible to twice the present length... The vicarage is not showing." A pencil inscription in another hand shows "Blenheim".

The photographer Douglas Jones was in Amberley in 1914, in 1924 he was in Kaiapoi and by 1928 he was in Lyttelton.

Canterbury Heritage said ..."Henry Joseph Stace, J.P. settled at Kaikoura in 1871. Station Manager Starborough estate Marlborough (c1886), later of Robin Hood Bay, Port Underwood, Marlborough, born 1847 Yorkshire died circa 1924 at Blenheim."
