GUDSELL — In loving memory of Private John Thomas Gudsell, killed in action October 4th, 1917, dearly beloved youngest son of Mr and Mrs R. Gudsell.
To-day as we look at your photo,
A soldier so noble and true,
Do you know that our hearts are aching
And longing, dear Jack, for you?
How noble were the words he spoke
Before he went away:
It's every Briton's duty, mother,
To join in this great fray.
—Inserted by his sorrowing mother and father.
